Wytchyleaks.org.uk

“Some wytches do not want you to have access to this information. They consider it 'dangerous' and would rather keep it for themselves.
I would suggest that those individuals pursue a career at HMMR, since they obviously see their brothers and sisters as a threat which needs to be contained.

I have more faith in my fellow wytches and norms alike. Yes, the information provided here could be used for evil, but it could also be used to achieve great things for all of humanity. I believe that on balance the good people far outnumber the bad, and that sharing this information freely will allow those good people to properly recognise and counter any attempts at causing harm. Attempting to hide information such as this is no defence, since the individuals with the fewest scruples will be the ones most able to go to the lengths needed to gain access to it.

If you feel similarly to me and have access to any secret or lost information about magic, share it freely. Let others benefit from it, so they in turn may return the favour.
If you are a researcher, whether a wytch or a norm, take this information and use it to better the world. Collaborate and improve upon what we now know, then share your results.

I believe our world has a bright future ahead if and only if we can all learn to work together.”

-wytchyleaks.org.uk, a new website containing photocopied images of what appear to be Nitro's personal notes on the subject of Kaomancy, also known as chaos magic. The website is taken down by HMMR after a few days, but the images have escaped and are now well spread around the internet.

OOC: What is presented on this page is not the actual Wytchyleaks site, but a summary of what can be found from piecing together copies and screenshots of it. Reading this page alone will not enable you to spend a point and unlock Kaomancy, but studying it (and the full site) as a major action will.

OOC Turn 6: There are rumours that the information out there online is not quite the same as it once was… also, the “Nether Rifts” information is new, though also attached to the Wytchyleaks name.

Kaomancy (Chaos)

Kaomancy is the magic of amplifying the power of your own spells to exponential levels. Details of more powerful spells should be sought from practitioners who know more…

Alteration

Alteration Kaomancers push their spells through other Wytches to increase their power, because they have no concept of personal space.

  • Novice - you can force a spell of Novice level through up to 3 people, multiplying the power of your spell by 3.
Examples: conducting a small bolt lightning through seven people in order to make it seven times as powerful…
  • Apprentice - you can force a spell of Novice or Apprentice level through up to 9 people, multiplying the power of your spell by 9.
Examples: pushing the magic for your small fireball through a crowd of people around you to turn it into an enormous one. Warning: texts suggest that pushing power past this level is a terrible idea.

Enchantment

Kaomancy Enchantment manifests in the summoning of spirits. Lots of spirits Some people like that, apparently.

  • Novice - spirits you have summoned can themselves summon up to three spirits, which you then take control of to control the original one. (4 spirits total).
Examples: summoning an arcane spirit of a lion which itself bursts into three more lions.
  • Apprentice - spirits summoned by your spirit can themselves summon up to three spirits, which you then take control of to control the original one. (13 spirits total)
Examples: summoning fire sprites which multiply into a small army. Warning: texts suggest that pushing power beyond this level is a terrible idea.

Evocation

Kaomancy Evocation manifests in the ability to make everything blow up.

  • Novice - you can triple the power of your spell aimed at a single target, although you'll be three times as tired afterwards.
Examples: hitting all three of Harry, Ron and Hermione with a giant fireball that's three times stronger than you can actually sustain, so you have to go for a lie-down.
  • Apprentice - you can nonuple (x9) the power of your spell aimed at a single target, although you'll be nine times as tired afterwards.
Examples: making your arcane bolts seem like SciFi turbolasers rather than military grade ones, then promptly collapsing. Warning: texts suggest that pushing power beyond this level is a terrible idea.

Illusion

Kaomancy Illusion manifests in the ability to create amazing party tricks.

  • Novice - you can make three illusions instead of one.
Examples: creating three independent illusions of ninjas.
  • Apprentice - you can make nine illusions instead of one.
Examples: surrounding yourself with imaginary friends. Warning: texts suggest that pushing power beyond this level is a terrible idea.

Protection

Kaomancy Protection manifests in the ability to protect more stuff than you normally can.

  • Novice - your protective spells are three times as powerful as they would be otherwise.
Examples: protecting against high level evocation.
  • Apprentice - your protective spells are nine times as powerful as they would be otherwise.
Examples: healing nine stab wounds at once. Warning: texts suggest that pushing power beyond this level is a terrible idea.

Nether Rifts

The following information has appeared online recently, attached to the “Wytchyleaks” name and with the same statement about freedom of knowledge as before. It has not yet been taken down by HMMR.

  • Magic use relies on the flow of magical energy from Aether ‘fonts’ to Nether ‘rifts.’ The very process of casting a spell draws magic from one and sends it to the other.
  • Using large amounts of magic can both cause Aether Fonts and Nether Rifts and then expand them once they exist, since drawing more magic through them in an uncontrolled fashion will enlarge them.
  • Aether Fonts and Nether Rifts interacting can lead to slight risk of horrific explosion.
  • Feeding magic into a Nether Rift in a controlled fashion can help to shrink it, by accustoming it to smaller and smaller amounts of magic passing through it.
