“The cataclysms of late 2014, resulting in the destruction of first Marischal College and then Bedivere Hall, did in retrospect contain somewhat of a blessing in disguise. The rivalry between the two institutions had raged for nearly 400 years, and although officially was strictly friendly, recent activity by both Fiona Lauchlan and Wilhelmina Featherstonehaugh had raised tensions to near unbearable levels. It hardly needs to be mentioned that Kaidan Rockwell-Hawthorne - the evocation prodigy - moving to Marischal was taken as a personal insult. The fact that both colleges suffered similar fates created for the first time an opportunity to reconcile such differences, not least because both Lauchlan and Featherstonehaugh were dead, or at least missing in action.
However, the context itself can only be considered half of the story. Without the strong initiative of David Williams - then temporary Master of Bedivere - the future of Apocrymancy may very well have seen an awfully different fate. Realising the opportunity that presented itself, Williams decided to re-found a new Oxford college of magic - Featherstonehaugh Hall - to both heal old wounds as well as to train wytches to live in the new, post-discrimination world in which they found themselves. Although the college is still yet in its early days, it shows great signs of promise, especially with the considerable financial backing of several high-profile wytches from various backgrounds.”
