Nosomancy is the magic of controlling diseases, pestilences and plagues. It is one of the Occult Schools of Magic, of which little is widely known. As such, any book research you are able to do will only reliably inform you of the abilities of the lower levels of the sub-schools, as listed below. Once you have spent an action altering your magic pool to cast Nosomancy you may consider the whole school “unlocked” and can continue spending points as normal.
Please note that example uses are only suggestions, and magical spells can be anything that fits with the specialisation.
Nosomancy Alteration manifests in the manipulation of disease, or making animals come together as a plague. It cannot create disease, but it can make an existing one more or less virulent.
Novice - you are capable of manipulating minor diseases, or small amounts of pestilence.
Examples: changing one person's cold so it is not infectious, making ten mosquitoes hover round them.
Apprentice - you are capable of manipulating isolated instances of moderate disease, or medium amounts of pestilence.
Examples: making one cancerous tumour benign, invading someone's bedroom with a hundred slugs.
Nosomancy Enchantment manifests in the creations of items or potions that spread or prevent disease.
Novice - you can summon and enchant items and potions with minor plague spirits.
Examples: Enchant the evocation spell of a winter cold into a box of tissues, for hilarity.
Apprentice - you can summon and enchant items and potions with mid-level plague spirits.
Examples: Enchant a protective spell into an amulet to ward off the flu.
Nosomancy Evocation manifests in the ability to create temporary offensive plagues of either disease or pestilence.
Novice - you can cast low-level offensive plague magic.
Examples: Give your opponent a head cold, or distract them with ten evoked mosquitoes biting their face .
Apprentice - you can cast mid-level offensive plague magic.
Examples: Give your opponent insta-mumps, or distract them with a personal plague of evoked locusts.
Nosomancy Illusion manifests in the ability to metaphorically plague people with hallucinations or bad dreams.
Novice - you can cast minor plague illusions.
Examples: cast a spell that makes someone see something unpleasant around them, creep into someone's room at night and give them dream visions of horrors.
Apprentice - you can cast mid-level plague illusions.
Examples: cast a spell that makes a small group of people see lovely pretty flowers to distract them from the real horrors of the world, give one person waking visions of horrors.
Nosomancy Protection manifests in the ability to defend against plagues of disease, animals or visions.
Novice - you can cast minor protective plague spells.
Examples: defend yourself from infection by the flu, disperse a small plague of insects back to where they came from.
Apprentice - you can cast mid-level protective plague spells.
Examples: cure one person at a time of serious disease, cast defensive spells to prevent a small group of people becoming infected by STDs for a night.
