Chronomancy (Time)

Chronomancy is the magic of controlling the very fabric of spacetime itself. It is one of the Occult Schools of Magic, of which little is widely known. As such, any book research you are able to do will only reliably inform you of the abilities of the lower levels of the sub-schools, as listed below. Details of more powerful spells may have to be sought from practitioners who know more…

Once you have spent an action altering your magic pool to cast Chronomancy you may consider the whole school “unlocked” and can continue spending points as normal.

Please note that example uses are only suggestions, and magical spells can be anything that fits with the specialisation.

Alteration

You can distort time and space slightly to transport yourself or something else (in your line of sight) in an instant.

  • Novice: you can transport yourself for distances of up to a metre.
Examples: suddenly winning a race from a close second, teleporting over a tripwire or laser, moving a box across a table.
  • Apprentice: you can transport yourself for distances of up to 20 metres.
Examples: suddenly winning a race from last place, teleporting across a room filled with deadly lasers, teleporting past a line of people, moving a box across an entire room

Enchantment

You can summon spirits capable of manipulating the space-time continuum.

  • Novice: you can summon and enchant items and potions with minor temporal spirits.
Examples: creating a vase that teleports across a room when someone tries to take it, creating a hat that slows down one's perception of the universe
  • Apprentice: you can summon and enchant items and potions with small temporal spirits.
Examples: creating a cake that when eaten teleports the user to the other side of a building, creating a pair of gloves that grants you lightning fast reflexes.

Evocation

You can distort time and space to interfere with an opponent's casting or boost your own.

  • Novice: you can cast minor offensive time magic.
Examples: slowing down time slightly to slow an opponent's casting, speeding up time to cast oh so slightly more quickly with the same precision
  • Apprentice: you can cast mid-level offensive time magic.
Examples: seriously slowing down time around an opponent to render them snail-like in a fight, casting ritualistic magic in seconds

Illusion

You can temporarily temporally phase yourself or something out of time itself where it cannot be sensed in any way shape or form.

  • Novice: you are capable of phasing yourself or something outside of time for a few seconds.
Examples: avoiding a bullet by not being in the same universe as it, vanishing for a moment as a CCTV camera swoops past, quickly removing that incriminating piece of evidence for a few seconds as the police look through your bag.
  • Apprentice: you are capable of phasing outside of time for a couple of minutes.
Examples: avoiding a missile strike by not being in the same universe as it, vanishing from your home as someone comes looking for you, removing that large piece of incriminating evidence from your car as the police thoroughly look it over

Protection

By manipulating time you can freeze time temporarily to deal with threats before they can hit, and undo physical damage done recently.

  • Novice: you can cast low-level time protection spells.
Examples: freezing yourself or someone else in time for a few moments so you can prevent an assault on them, undoing biological damage effects caused in the last few hours.
  • Apprentice: you can cast medium time protection spells.
Examples: freezing several people in time for a few minutes while the threat to them is dealt with, undoing biological damage effects caused in the last few days.
