HMMR Coven Raid Declared Illegal

In a ruling by the Supreme Court, called for by vote in the House of Commons, the controversial raid by HMMR on a meeting of Wytches in central London in July has been declared completely and entirely illegal, with Grand Inquisitor Joseph Morton facing charges of assault and grievous bodily harm following his outburst of violence toward a Wytch during the event.

Livestreaming provided by Sebastian Sterling, a Wytch present at the Coven, shows Morton assaulting a defenceless Wytch in an area in which magic allegedly did not work, and a Wytch who called only for reason and mercy, proceeding to literally kick her while she was down, causing serious bodily injury.

Public outrage has caused Downing Street to issue an official apology for HMMR's actions, which will be duly and properly investigated, and assurance provided that no such horror will ever occur again. Members of the Wytch community who were arrested in the raid and yet to be charged are due to be released immediately.

Morton Sacked, Fielding Brings Change

Following disgrace and charges of assault, Joseph Morton has been sacked by MI6 as Grand Inquisitor of HMMR, facing prosecution in the Crown Court.

His replacement has come from the Inquisitorial Department of HMMR in the form of Department Head Sarah Fielding. While concerns have been raised about Fielding's involvement in the Coven Raid, she has issued the following statement:

“The raid on the Coven was wrong. There is no way we can justify it. Nobody there was proven guilty of any crime, and HMMR is currently investigating electrical disturbances that may have caused a discrepancy in time around the Coven suggesting those inside were unaware of their breach of curfew. Further, HMMR issues a denouncement of Joseph Morton and condemnation of his actions - they were not only legally but morally wrong, and that is something that cannot be justified.

Now I speak to Wytches themselves. These past four months, we have experienced changes to our world as we know it, and we have discovered threats greater than those we have ever faced before. This very month, an entire platoon of British Soldiers was lost in an expedition in Wales to a force we do not understand. We are out of our depth. We need your help. If you can forgive us.”

Anti-Wytch Laws Repealed

Pressure from the public and inside Parliament has caused the government to repeal recent restrictions on Wytch activity, including a retraction of not only the midnight curfew, but the restriction on sale of items to Wytches, and most importantly any restrictions on meeting en masse.

This U-turn does not impact upon the laws imposed by the Reasonable Freedom Act of 1762, but even these are being brought into question as Wytch rights are brought to the forefront of the public eye, with suggestions being made to scrap any clause that prevents a Wytch from having the exact same rights as non-magic users.

HAVE WE GONE TOO FAR?

The Government is falling over itself to repeal Anti-Wytch laws, as the magical PR machine emerges triumphant, but the Post still has to ask: are we sure that Wytches are safe? Just because Joseph Morton was a nutcase doesn't mean all his policies were wrong! Wytches still pose a risk to us and to our children - who in the Government will show their courage and ask the difficult questions?

Tighter Security Coven hosted by MacDoddigans

You receive a memo signed by Ruaraidh MacDoddigan attached to which is a complicated set of instructions and a map to a location up in Scotland.

Friends,

While the Hammer have assured us that our meetings are legal and that they won't come anywhere near them, I cannot trust them. They're slimy, backstabbing, and cowardly, but we need to meet and we need to talk. Attached is a map to one of the Islanders' most well hidden, hardest to find locations where we are holding the next Coven - I advise you get in touch with an Islander and buddy up as it's a long trip.

We will have elite Evocation mages positioned all around the location, able to see for miles and miles away. If the Hammer try anything, we'll know about it, and we have escape plans ready and prepared should anything happen. If the Hammer hold true to their word, nothing'll happen, but believe me I want to be ready in case.

Their new leader - this Sarah Fielding - has requested audio communications with those who'd be willing to speak with her. I don't like this any more than any of you will, but it seems this “Lich” problem as well as the plague on the tube are some things even the almighty Hammer can't deal with, so we're allowing her to phone in - through a protected line - to a separate room where only those who want to speak with her can. If she pulls anything, or the Hammer try anything, the deal is off, and they'll know the true force of the MacDoddigan Clan.

If you're afraid for any reason, I don't blame you, but send me a message with any concerns and I'll do my best to accommodate and make sure you're safe.

Hoping to see you all soon,

Ruaraidh MacDoddigan

Newly formed NDL Fights in Streets with HMMR

Following his sacking from HMMR, Joseph Morton has not yet ceased his reign of Terror. Leaving HMMR with him are nearly a hundred HMMR agents who have declared no confidence in Sarah Fielding's regime, joining together with Morton in what he brands the “Natural Defence League”. This alliance is nothing but terrorism, with their “marches” in fact violent assaults on Wytches, with the most recent and shocking incident in Luton, when NDL thugs broke into a house of alleged Wytches, hauling them onto the streets shouting to “burn them!”.

HMMR, under Sarah Fielding, has reacted with fury to the formation and actions of the NDL, sending HMMR Hunters on counterattacks against NDL “protests”, with firefights between HMMR and NDL men erupting on the streets, with HMMR acting to defend the lives of Wytches.

Statements have been issued from both sides.

From HMMR:

“The so-called 'Natural Defence League' is a disgrace. HMMR will not rest until the band of criminals has been completely shut down and those committing crimes against Wytches brought to justice. That is a promise.”

From the NDL:

With chants of “TWO, FOUR, SIX, EIGHT, WITCHCRAFT WE'LL ERADICATE!” in the background, a masked man stated “Witchcraft will bring ruin and death to all of Britain. We will defend non-magical safety and we will bring an end to the magical menace.”

Masked Heroines Save Wytches

Following previous public appearance in Cardiff, five young girls known as “The Heart Maidens” were reported to have also been present at the freeing of wrongly arrested Wytches following the illegal Coven Raid in July. Since then, these girls - known as “Light Heart”, “Burnt Heart”, “Frozen Heart”, “Stone Heart”, and “Heart Heart” - have been seen up and down the country working to defend Wytches from aggression. They have been hailed as doing brilliant work for justice, and the Moon asks the obvious question: which Heart Maiden is the hottest? (see page 3)

Murder Case Opened in Helicopter Enquiry

The technical enquiry into the sudden failure of a helicopter involved in the Wytch Coven Raid last month has reported back, saying they have found no signs of systematic mechanical or electrical failure which would require the grounding of the XN-34Z type helicopter, widely used across police forces. What they did find, however, included massive mechanical damage done by what appeared to be a projectile made of ice, and total destruction of the rotor gearing caused by some immensely powerful force while the rotor was still spinning - i.e. before it hit the ground. Given the above facts, the investigation has concluded that the only thing they can conclude was that magic was used to bring the helicopter down. The results of their investigation have been passed to HMMR, who are now pursuing a murder enquiry.

Tamora to be Returned

Following arrest, detention at Dartmoor Prison, and sectioning by HMMR, Tamora Torquemada is to be returned to the Wytch community for psychological treatment and care which Sarah Fielding and HMMR psychologists suggest only Wytches can bring. She will be dropped off at a safe, predetermined meeting point by HMMR Agents where Wytches will come to take her to the Coven, whereupon Wytches will be left to decide what to do with her.

Wytches are assured that HMMR will not be coming to the Coven, and that they are left fully unaware of the location of this Coven.

Tube Chaos as Central and Northern Lines Suspended Indefinitely

Following investigation by the group known as “The Soul Sisters”, Transport For London has announced that increased dangers in the underground have prompted closure of the Central and Northern lines indefinitely until the source of the danger can be eliminated. TFL have been hesitant to provide details on the nature of the danger, but handing out of facemasks at many stations across London suggest it can be nothing healthy…

Lich Army Growing

Reports from the British Army and HMMR suggest that a large number of people have been killed and resurrected as part of an “enormous army of the living dead” summoned by a being being referred to as “The Lich”. This Lich was originally thought to be the reanimated body of Merlin, having escaped Merlin's tree in July, but reports from the Wytch community suggest that this is in fact a powerful Dark Wytch. Sarah Fielding has urged caution and evacuation of nearby areas in Wales, while making a plea for help.

Diablo-Firebrand Merge

Diablo Magic Supplies has this month announced its complete acquisition of the Firebrand Nightclub chain. Head honcho Ms Maria DeMoreno is said to be just as thrilled as Mr Jordan Havenbrook about this merge, as Firebrand clubs across the country have had the Diablo logo placed next to their signs, Diablo branding has gone across all products, and a number of clubs closed down, with a location in Birmingham being replaced entirely with a new Diablo shopfront.

Related, Mr Havenbrook has announced a celebratory Enchantment Contest: create a new, brilliant object to be sold in Diablo and win not only free entry to Firebrand, but free drinks and access to the VIP area at will. Runner up prizes will include smaller items of interest from the Diablo warehouses.

Trenchcoat Strikes Out!

Trenchcoat's newest pieces show them very obviously also taking the side of the Wytches against the Hammer as the “Blue Meanie” (http://thecommittedindian.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Chief_Blue_Meanie.jpg) is seen with the face of Joseph Morton, with a nearby picture of “Glove” (http://www.freewebs.com/chtfreak64/Other%20Blue%20Meanies.jpg) with the head of a Hammer, smashing the chief characters from J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter - Harry, Ron and Hermione - into the ground. Critics argue that upon closer inspection, Harry seems more to resemble Scout Master Bear Grylls.

Meanwhile in the background of the image, the faces of Sarah Fielding and Daniel Guest are transplanted onto taller “Meanies”. The metaphor is mixed and confusing at first, but critics say that this truly shows Trenchcoat's rage toward the Hammer, suggesting possibly that they too might be a Wytch?

Either way, their graffiti is suggested to have inspired a London amateur to paint rivers of blood coming from the Headquarters of HMMR near the SIS Building in Vauxhall, a piece not signed by any artist and assumed to be local delinquents.

HMMR representatives have been unavailable for comment.

Letter to the Editor

Sir,

As a mother of several scouts, I am shocked and dismayed at the treatment of the Chief Scout, Bear Grylls. I understand that the charge is that he may have endangered young people who try to emulate or surpass him. I am also sure that as a father himself and the son of a peer, he is very conscious of his responsibilities to his duties and to the country. Why has no one realised he may have used these magical skills to prevent and protect young people from their competitive teenaged follies?

London Society of Rare Books Criticises Hammer

The following is a televised broadcast on BBC 7

The London Society of Rare Books (LSRB) were shocked to hear that three rare books, Witches, The True Story of Magic in England, The Undisclosed Biography of Merlin, and A Catalogue of Ancient Artefacts from Arthurian Legend were destroyed in an electrical fire that occurred two Tuesdays ago. When ask for comment, spokesman Gregory Newell had this to say.

“The books in question were the private property of Joseph Morton and thus, his responsibility to preserve. It is unfortunate that an electrical surge, not in anyway caused by the personnel at Hammer, resulted in a fire. The true victims today are those books and it is a tragedy to lose such corner stones of our culture.”

The LSRB has yet to respond to Newell's allegations of Morton's culpability. More as the story develops…

Magic on Tour!

The pilot of the Wytching Hour was finally, after months of hype, broadcast on Saturday, and not only did it live up to the sky-high expectations of viewing public, it managed to exceed them. The stunning cast managed to portray a group of fantastically written characters perfectly, with particular highlights being Michael Caine's Lich and Judi Dench's headmistress of a secret magical college located underneath Queen's, Cambridge. Already, fan communities have sprung up across the internet with speculation as to the events of next episode blowing up social media. It managed to attract 24 million simultaneous viewers, making it the most watched broadcast since 1996. Nobody can wait until this Saturday to see the next in the six-part series, and the positive impact that's been had on public opinion of Wytches as a result is remarkable.

A new stage show, put on by Jennifer Turpin, who has been dubbed “le lapin luisant”, and Alexandra “The Great” Hartnell, opened last Thursday to rave reviews, with some theatre-goers comparing it favourably to Paulsen and Cherie's performances. The show has not yet announced further tour dates, but when it does, it's certainly worth going to see.

Question Time Appearance Making Waves

Safiya DeMonfort, reportedly the woman brutally attacked by Joseph Morton at the raid by HMMR on the wytches' coven last month created quite a stir on the latest episode of Question Time last night. Directing heavily critical attacks towards HMMR's representative on the panel - Imogen Fox - she received a standing ovation. There are rumours that she might be the favourite to become the pro-wytch movement's main spokesperson, although nothing has yet been confirmed.

Wytches hailed for community regeneration

Bristol City Council has publically praised the work done by wytches known as Brother Sun and Sister Moon for their efforts in making Bristol a better city. Many housing estates and parks were improved by their magic in the past month, proving that it really can be an effective force for good. A new homeless shelter built into a grassy hill is slowly being furnished by donated goods.

We asked Jennifer Simon, age 10, a firsthand witness of the do-good duo, what she thought.

“There was sparkles and the grass grew like magic! I hope I'm a wytch when I grow up. They seemed really nice, and he gave me a present!”

Mayor Jane Windsor, however, wishes to remind all wytches that any magic of such scale must be fully authorised.
